Register your organisation
The very first step is creating a ScreenJournal organisation. The account that registers becomes the owner — the role with permission to configure policy, manage members, and see every team member's data.
Before you start
You'll need:
- A work email address (this becomes the owner login).
- The name you want your organisation to be displayed as in the dashboard.
- 30 seconds.
You do not need a credit card; the free trial activates inside the onboarding wizard.
The signup page
- Go to the ScreenJournal web app and choose Sign up.
- Pick Business / organisation (the alternative — "I was invited" — is for employees, not for creating a new org).
- Fill in the form:
- Organisation name — visible to everyone in your org.
- Your name — visible in the dashboard's member list.
- Work email — your login and the address all dashboard emails will be sent to.
- Password — minimum length is enforced; pick something strong.
- Submit.
You'll be signed in immediately and taken to the onboarding wizard.
The onboarding wizard
The wizard has two steps:
Step 1 — Invite people
You can do this now, or skip and do it later from the Members page. Either way, the wizard moves on.
Step 2 — Activate trial
This activates a free trial. The dashboard and the tracker continue to work after the trial ends, but uploads will be paused until billing is set up. You can manage your subscription later from Billing in the sidebar.
What "owner" gives you
Once registration completes, your account has every permission in the organisation:
- Configure desktop policy (sidebar → Desktop policy).
- Manage members and teams (sidebar → Members).
- See the activity timeline of any employee, not just yourself.
- Generate timesheets and reports for anyone.
- Configure and view alerts.
- Manage billing.
You can promote another member to owner later from the Members page if you want a co-administrator.
Next steps
- Invite your team — bring people into the org.
- Desktop policy overview — decide what the trackers are allowed to do before your team starts running them.
